‘Elisabeth’
In November 2009, Walker’s grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He began documenting her life with only a focus on the cancer recovery. However, the more time Walker spent with her, the more he began to realize that this body of work not only served a purpose of documenting her recovery and significant moments in that process, but it also had become a reflection of the artist and his personal memories. Elisabeth celebrates important moments in healing, while examining gaps in a life that has long passed. This body of work sets out to discover what lies beneath the surface of the everyday vernacular, while attempting to emote intimacy within a domestic realm.
